Job Description

 

Atlassian Administrator – Job Description

Employment Type: Full-Time 

Location: Pune

Position Summary

The Atlassian Administrator is responsible for administering, configuring, and optimizing Atlassian tools including Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket. This role supports engineering and product teams by managing user access and onboarding, designing and maintaining Jira workflows, implementing automation and scripting solutions, and enforcing governance controls across the Atlassian platform. The position also supports project migrations, custom field management, and system improvements to ensure efficient collaboration and scalable development workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket environments.
  • Manage user onboarding and access provisioning, including adding new hires to Jira and Confluence and maintaining groups, roles, and permissions.
  • Design and maintain Jira workflows, including issue types, status transitions, and workflow updates.
  • Develop standardized issue templates for Stories, Bugs, Documentation tasks, and Backport fixes.
  • Implement Smart Checklist Pro templates, including automated Feature Readiness checklists.
  • Configure secure custom fields and governance controls, including restricting sensitive fields to specific project roles.
  • Create custom tracking fields and dashboards, including short status indicators for Epics and Initiatives.
  • Build automation rules, including automatically generating documentation tickets.
  • Support Jira project migrations while maintaining configuration and data integrity.
  • Utilize ScriptRunner and scripting tools to implement advanced automation, validations, and custom Jira functionality.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and provide Tier 2/3 support for Atlassian platform users.
  • Maintain documentation, governance standards, and best practices for Atlassian platform administration.

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • 5–8 years of experience administering Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Strong experience with Jira workflows, automation rules, permission schemes, and project configuration.
  • Experience with Atlassian project migrations and environment administration.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools (ScriptRunner, Groovy, REST APIs preferred).
  • Knowledge of Agile and DevOps development methodologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Atlassian certifications (ACP-JA, ACP-CA, or similar).
  • Experience with SSO, identity management, and access governance.
  • Experience integrating Atlassian tools with CI/CD pipelines or enterprise platforms.
  • Background supporting enterprise-scale engineering environments.
