Job Description

Job Description: Sr Director of Engineering - Infinia

Position Summary:

DDN is seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Director of Engineering to lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of the core critical components of Infinia Data Intelligent Platform in EMEA and Israel. This high-performance, scalable system is tailored for the AI era, and your leadership will be pivotal in ensuring its scalability, reliability, and efficiency. Key focus areas include task scheduling, tracing, memory, SPDK Data, profiling, reliability, networking, SQL data structures, and cluster management. The ideal candidate will have a deep technical expertise in distributed systems and data storage alongside a proven track record of leading high-performance organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership: Oversee the full lifecycle of system development, ensuring seamless delivery of Infinia’s platform to customers with exceptional quality.
  • Strategic Roadmap Development: Drive the creation and execution of strategic roadmaps, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with company goals.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and develop a best-in-class engineering team, fostering an environment of continuous improvement, technical and operational excellence.
  • Collaborative Development: Partner with architects, engineers, and cross-functional organizations to ensure the delivery of innovative, high-quality technical designs.
  • Performance & Accountability: Track, report, and manage the organization’s performance against project milestones, ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Process Improvement: Implement and refine engineering best practices, driving continuous improvements in quality, performance, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on large-scale distributed systems, storage solutions, or database systems.
  • 10+ years of experience building, leading, and managing high-performance engineering organizations.
  • Knowledge of one or more modern programming languages such as C++, Java, Go, or Rust.
  • Technical expertise in cluster management, I/O operations, and event-driven architectures.
  • Deep understanding of scalable computing systems, software architectures, and algorithms.
  • Proficiency in networking, distributed, asynchronous, and concurrent programming.
  • Experience with full development lifecycle practices, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading organization to iteratively deliver high-quality software on time.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated success in performance management, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise with cluster management tools and frameworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of memory management, cache allocation, and bulk data processing.
  • Familiarity with performance analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Experience working in high-performance computing or data-intensive environments.

If you clear the interview, you will enter the main process, which can consist of up to four interviews in total:

 

  • Coding assessment: Often in a language of your choice.
  • Systems design: Translate high-level requirements into a scalable, fault-tolerant service (depending on role).
  • Real-time problem-solving: Demonstrate practical skills in a live problem-solving session.
  • Meet and greet with the wider team.
  • Our goal is to finish the main process in 2-3 weeks at most.
