Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Manager, Engineering to lead and grow our Infinia platform team, driving both hardware and software innovation in our platform engineering organization.

What you'll bring to DDN:

 

Leadership & Management

  • 5+ years of engineering management experience, leading teams of 10+ engineers
  • Track record of scaling engineering teams and establishing a culture of operational excellence
  • Experience managing both hardware and software platform engineering initiatives
  • Strong technical background with 10+ years in engineering as an individual contributor or manager.
  • Proven ability to lead geographically distributed teams

Technical Background

  • Deep technical expertise in x86 and ARM hardware platforms, distributed systems, and storage architectures
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices and technologies (Go, Python, C++)
  • Experience with hardware management interfaces (IPMI, Redfish) and system architecture
  • Advanced understanding of Linux systems, networking, and automation

Strategic Skills

  • Communicate for impact and purpose, aligning the team to strategic goals
  • Track record of successful cross-functional collaboration with product, UX, and business teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with data-driven decision making

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of 10+ hardware and software platform engineers
  • Drive technical strategy to expand our hardware platform portfolio
  • Manage resource allocation, team performance, and delivery schedules
  • Collaborate with product management to define and execute on the technical roadmap
  • Provide technical mentorship and career development for team members
  • Drive adoption of best practices in system design, testing, and operational excellence
  • Ensure high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation
  • Build a culture of operational excellence by sharing on-call responsibilities and leading incident responses as needed.

Interview Process: After submitting your application, one of our recruiters will review your resume. If your application passes this stage, you will be invited to a 30-minute interview during which a member of our team will ask some basic questions. If you clear the interview, you will enter the main process, which can consist of up to four interviews in total:

 

  • Coding assessment: Often in a language of your choice.
  • Systems design: Translate high-level requirements into a scalable, fault-tolerant service (depending on role).
  • Real-time problem-solving: Demonstrate practical skills in a live problem-solving session.
  • Meet and greet with the wider team.
  • Our goal is to finish the main process in 2-3 weeks at most.
