Job Description

We are looking for a Sr. DevOps Engineer with demonstrated networking experience for our RED Storage engineering team who will assist with designing scalable backend infrastructure for QA, Support and Engineering based on VM and container virtualization technologies like KVM, VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes for RED software storage solution.

 

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

 

  • Maintaining computer networks including switches, VPNs, routers and other physical hardware.
  • Monitoring CI/CD infrastructure to improve network performance for all related services.
  • Understands the importance of monitoring and can implement solutions that will actively notify and try to correct critical infrastructure problems.  Tries to eliminate any single point of failure to allow for resilient operating environment.
  • Understands capacity planning and how to figure out the hardware needs for ordering new hardware considering current utilization, and needs of the future including adding additional engineers and demands of higher testing load.
  • Knowledge of both common cloud providers and how to create and use on-prem solutions.
  • Create complex CI/CD pipelines to automate building of code, deploying to multiple environments including bare metal, containers on bare metal and Kubernetes pods, running repeatable tests in different configuration.
  • Comfortable using container and orchestration technologies to provide enterprise framework of deploying containers and running services at scale.
  • Debug high level failures that an end user might see like service not starting down through the various layers of automation to find root cause in a complex lab environment.
  • Solid understanding of programming with the ability to write production level code in Linux Shell, Python, and GoLang.
  • Expert in using deployment and automation tools to quickly bring up new systems and recovery failed systems and environments including Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform, and Salt. Automate every tasks.
  • Occasionally perform emergent datacenter work and assist in the remediation of server and service outages.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in CS or related technical field with a minimum of 7+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience with Kubernetes CNI and/or software overlay networks. Previous experience with hardware routing and interconnectivity a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in networking principles such as DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP, ARP, TTL, and MTU
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently
  • Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, and / or other cloud and cluster-based Infrastructure
  • Strong grasp and demonstratable experience in orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and Docker
  • Working knowledge of Configuration Management such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, etc
  • Strong working knowledge of Python, Linux Shell, Ansible languages required, GoLang strongly preferred
  • Proven experience working with RESTFUL APIs

  • Systems hands-on: Demonstrate practical skills in a live problem-solving session.
  • Project deep-dive: Present your past exceptional work to a small audience.
  • Meet and greet with the wider team.
  • Our goal is to finish the main process within one week.
  • We don’t rely on recruiters for assessments.
