Job Description

Job Summary:

 

We are looking for a Princiapl Software Engineer for our Pune-based Data Service team. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and implementing Python-based software tools in a Linux environment.

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Develop code in golang/python and software libraries to enhance (add features) and maintain the Data Service product. Fix bugs.
  • Develop unit tests to validate scripts, tools, modules and libraries
  • Work with the Engineering manager and a geographically distributed team to understand product requirements and features
  • Contribute to and validate product documentation
  • Assist with customer support escalations
  • Work with QA to configure and maintain the Jenkins software build system

 

Qualifications: 

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree/experience.
  • 10+ years of working in Linux system environments and understand Linux system internals.
  • 8+ years of Python/Golang scripting experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with enterprise-class or HPC storage systems and/or distributed systems
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high quality/error free deliverables.
  • Strong team player with good communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to independently prioritize, multitask, and work under deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Experience with Agile software development processes
  • Experience with LUA, bash and REST is plus.
  • Knowledge of Parallel File Systems, in particular IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) and/or Lustre, is highly preferred but not required

Interview Process:

 

After submitting your application, the team reviews your CV and statement of exceptional work. If your application passes this stage, you will be invited to a 30-minute interview (“phone interview”) during which a member of our team will ask some basic questions. If you clear the initial phone interview, you will enter the main process, which consists of four technical interviews:

 

  • Coding assessment in a language of your choice.
  • Systems design: Translate high-level requirements into a scalable, fault-tolerant service.
  • Systems hands-on: Demonstrate practical skills in a live problem-solving session.
  • Project deep-dive: Present your past exceptional work to a small audience.
  • Meet and greet with the wider team.
  • Our goal is to finish the main process within one week.
  • We don’t rely on recruiters for assessments.
  • Every application is reviewed by a member of our technical team.
