Job Description

We are seeking a highly technical and customer-focused Sales Engineer to join our rapidly growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and solution design support to our sales team and customers, with a specific focus on AI-powered data storage and management solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for AI, a proven track record of success selling into the AI space, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-velocity environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Sales Enablement:

  • Collaborate closely with the sales team to develop and execute complex technical sales strategies
  • Create compelling technical presentations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts to showcase the value of our solutions
  • Provide in-depth technical expertise and guidance to customers throughout the sales process

Solution Architecture:

  • Analyze customer requirements, pain points, and use cases to architect tailored data storage and management solutions for AI workloads
  • Design and document detailed technical specifications, reference architectures, and implementation plans
  • Ensure seamless integration and optimization of our solutions within complex IT environments

Customer Engagement:

  • Engage directly with customers, including C-level executives and technical decision-makers, to understand their AI initiatives and challenges
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor, providing guidance and recommendations to address customer needs
  • Collaborate with the customer success and support teams to ensure smooth implementation and ongoing satisfaction

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the product management and engineering teams to provide customer feedback and influence future product development
  • Partner with marketing to create technically accurate and compelling content for AI-focused campaigns
  • Participate in industry events, conferences, and customer-facing activities to represent the company and build thought leadership

Travel Expectations:

  • This position requires 35-40% travel to support customer engagements, sales activities, and industry events.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer or Technical Solutions Consultant, with a strong background in the AI, data storage, data intelligence, data management, or high-performance computing (HPC) industries
  • Demonstrated expertise in a wide range of technologies, including Linux, Unix, Windows, and Mac operating systems, as well as experience with SCSI, Lustre, GPFS, CXFS, QFS, ZFS, NAS, SAN, Perl, Shell Scripting, Solaris, and Visio
  • In-depth understanding of AI technologies, machine learning workflows, and associated infrastructure requirements
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Passion for AI and its potential to transform industries
  • Ability to work at an extremely fast pace and manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Sciences or a related field is required; advanced degree preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a sales engineering role at a high-growth AI-focused technology company
  • Deep knowledge of cloud computing platforms and their AI/ML services
  • Familiarity with data analytics, big data technologies, and data science workflows
  • Active participation in AI community events or relevant industry associations
  • Experience with Kubernetes
