Job Description

As an Applications Systems Engineer Federal at DDN Storage, you will be responsible for driving the successful adoption and optimization of our advanced storage solutions within our valued federal government customers. In this role, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor, working closely with federal agencies to understand their unique mission requirements and design innovative storage architectures that enable them to achieve their critical objectives. With a deep commitment to customer success and a passion for cutting-edge technology, you will play a key role in helping our federal customers harness the power of data to drive innovation, improve decision-making, and enhance operational effectiveness. This role is remote but must be able to travel up to 50%. Must also have security clearance. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical liaison between DDN Storage and our federal government customers, building strong relationships and developing a deep understanding of their mission requirements, technical challenges, and success criteria.
  • Collaborate with federal customers to design and implement advanced storage solutions that leverage DDN Storage's industry-leading products and technologies, such as parallel file systems, object storage, and AI-enabled data management.
  • Provide expert-level technical guidance and support to federal customers throughout the solution lifecycle, from initial design and proof-of-concept to deployment, optimization, and ongoing operations.
  • Conduct technical presentations, workshops, and training sessions to educate federal customers on DDN Storage's products, features, and best practices, and help them maximize the value of their investments.
  • Work closely with DDN Storage's product management, engineering, and support teams to provide feedback and insights on federal customer requirements, and drive the development of new features and enhancements that meet the evolving needs of the federal market.
  • Contribute to the development of technical proposals, RFP responses, and other sales enablement materials that effectively communicate the value of DDN Storage's solutions to federal customers.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in the federal storage market, and serve as a thought leader and trusted advisor to both customers and internal teams.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics related to federal customer success, including solution adoption, performance, and satisfaction, and work proactively to address any issues or concerns.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the storage industry and solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience in Operating systems debugging Linux and Windows Environments.
  • Red Hat, SUSE, Linux, Windows Server, Scripting using Shell or Python.
  • Experience in a technical pre-sales, solution architecture, or customer-facing engineering role, with a focus on the federal government market.
  • Deep technical expertise in storage systems, file systems, and data management technologies, with hands-on experience designing and implementing complex storage solutions for federal customers.
  • Strong understanding of federal government IT requirements, security standards, and procurement processes, including experience with FISMA, FedRAMP, and NIST guidelines.
  • Knowledge in file system deployment and concepts: XFS, ZFS, EXT3/4.
  • Experience in clustering packages, Lustre, SNFS, GPFS, Red Hat Clustering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in SAN and NAS RAID Appliance.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation tools, such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell, and experience using these tools to automate storage management tasks and streamline customer workflows.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts; NAS protocol levels (CIFS, NFS, SMB, etc...) and ability to integrate and trouble shoot at all layers of OSI model. Specifically understand the Network and Data link layers as well as Session and Application.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, and to build strong relationships with senior-level federal decision-makers.
  • Ability to multitask and lift at least 50lbs/22.6kg.
  • Ability for coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects to perform precision assembling, adjusting, or calibrating, within narrow tolerances, of electrical or electronic components.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions that address unique federal customer challenges and requirements.
  • Experience with high-performance computing, AI/ML, and big data technologies, and an understanding of how these workloads impact storage requirements in federal environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Security clearance is Required.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50%
