Job Description

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer for our RED Storage engineering team who will design, build, and deliver components of RED software storage solution:

  • Design and implement critical distributed storage components including SQL database engines interfacing with complex distributed highly available storage infrastructure.
  • Drive design discussions, build prototypes and contribute to deliver high quality products.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain code implementing SQL engine and surrounding stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support application functionality and performance.
  • Conduct code reviews and improve scalability, reliability and performance of RED storage and AI solutions.
  • Collaborate with your teammates and integrate a group of passionate developers in an outcome-oriented environment.



  • Excellent hands-on software development experience of 10+ years on distributed storage solutions or SQL server development
  • Experience in developing and debugging at system level C/C++, particularly for Linux/UNIX computing environments.
  • Prior experience with architecture and implementation of database engines interfacing with complex highly resilient underlying distributed storage
  • Comprehensive knowledge of database technologies, query languages and stored procedures
  • Knowledge of distributed file system solutions, parallel file system solutions or network file system is important.
  • NVM storage technology and/or distributed key-value storage systems are highly desired.
  • BS/MS/Ph.D in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent degree/experience.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high quality deliverables.
  • Strong team player with good communication skills and should be self-starter.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to independently prioritize, multitask, and work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.



The ideal candidate has knowledge of and experience in several of the following subjects:

  • Common database technologies and utilization of complex query languages for efficient data retrieval
  • Exposure and deep understanding of non-relational database technologies as well as preferable Hadoop, HDFS, or equivalent technologies.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server tools and utilities for monitoring, maintenance, and administration of relational databases (prior experience with Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Parallel file system solutions (ex. Lustre, GPFS) or distributed file systems (ex. NFS)
  • Proficiency in coding in UNIX shell and SQL, and at least one procedural language such as Python, Ruby, Java, Perl, and C++
  • Experience with AI technologies interfacing with event streaming infrastructures (ex. Apache Kafka, Mosquitto)
