We are currently seeking a Professional Service Engineer/Consultant –

Job Summary:

 

The Professional Service Engineer/Consultant is a highly technical position requiring business and application analysis, workflow design, documentation, project development, coordination, and delivery providing the highest customer value add solving organizations’ most challenging problems known and unknown. This candidate must possess a breadth of skills such as the integration of complex HPC clusters and applications, data storage and cloud technologies, networking infrastructure, scripting compiling debugging, and on-site service and support. You will interact with and support DDN’s industry leading customers and professionals. This position requires a dynamic, hard-working and ambitious individual that possesses strong leadership, interpersonal, and project management skills.

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Planning, designing, architecting, implementing, and administering value added services and components
  • Engage with pre-sales teams and customers to scope service deliverables with ability to translate customer requirement/need into DDN deliverables
  • Scope and write detailed Statements of Work
  • Strong desire to learn new technologies and thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Manage tasks, on-time deliverables
  • Develop innovative solutions to customers' business and application needs
  • Identify and engage with multiple resource both internal and external (e.g. 3rd party vendors and service providers) to meet customers’ business requirement
  • Become proficient in company's product and professional services portfolio
  • Provide training to customers engineering, support and deployment teams
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer environment and industry trends
  • Contribute to the improvement and enhancement of DDN products and consulting best practices
  • Provide weekly status report of activities to manager and participate in weekly staff calls
  • Travel of 50% or more to customer sites, seminars, tradeshows, events, and training
  • Participate in product testing and documentation reviewsQualifications for this role are:
  • Technical Skills
  •  
  • In depth hands on Linux (RHEL, CentOS, SUSE, BSD, etc.) and Windows system administration skills and experience in managing large scale distributed environments (minimum of 5 years)
  • Scripting, shell programming, application development and debugging skills - Python, Perl, Bash, C and C++
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP, NFS, SMB, SMTP, SNMP, FTP, HTTP
  • Networking knowledge - bridging, bonding, vlan, packet analyzers
  • Storage environment experience - NAS, SAN, RAID, distributed and parallel filesystems, object storage, Restful API, Amazon S3, Open Stack
  • Highly Availability Infrastructure knowledge - distributed system, load balancing
  • Parallel file system experience (GPFS, Lustre, zfs, other)
  • Architect, Build and manage secure virtual infrastructures (VMware, KVM, Citrix)
  • Configuration management such as Salt and Puppet
  • System and Application monitoring tool experience (SNMP, Nagios, Splunk)
  • Administration experience within an Enterprise Capacity performing operational maintenance and support, implementing DHCP and DNS with Active Directory

  • BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Sciences; or equivalent is required
  • Ability to travel domestically
