    Job Description

    System Engineer

     

    DDN Data Center Solutions provides high performance storage and server systems for the cloud and data center. DCS has an opportunity for a System Engineer on the cutting edge of storage and server product design in Colorado Springs

    • Both recent graduates and experienced engineers are encouraged to apply

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design/select system configurations that meet the product functionality, performance, and reliability requirements.
    • Build and bring up concept systems to verify ability to meet specifications.
    • Perform bring-up, debug, DVT, EVT, and SVT on storage and server systems.
    • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems on servers in support of engineering development, testing, and validation.
    • Run performance benchmarks on networking and storage systems and document results.
    • Diagnose, record, and document system failures. Advise hardware and software engineering teams of symptoms, steps to recreate, and root cause.
    • Maintain consistent configuration of systems.
    • Integrate engineering test scripts into automated testing system.
    • Track and resolve technical issues and requests for information.
    • Support manufacturing qualification process to ensure delivery of a high quality product.
    • Author and maintain specifications, technical documentation, and test reports.
    • Support customers, suppliers, or manufacturing as needed.
    • Participate in continuous improvements in quality, design, support, and process activities.

     

    SKILLS:

    • Strong familiarity with several versions of Linux.
    • System performance testing including storage, network, and stress tests.
    • System reliability and availability testing.
    • Excellent communication, documentation, and technical skills.
    • Strong sense of urgency and teamwork.
    • Ability to learn new designs quickly and independently.
    • Ability to work well both alone or in small teams.
    • Experience with various I/O protocols, such as PCIe, SAS, SATA and Ethernet a plus.
    • Direct experience with x86 or ARM computer architectures and chipsets is a plus.
    • Knowledge of server and storage systems is a plus.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience
