    Job Description


    We are currently seeking Systems Performance Architect. Colorado Springs CO, or Columbia MD is preferred but could be at alternate DDN site or remote with limited travel for the right candidate.


    This architect will work on our cutting-edge line of high performance storage products using declustered storage techniques with significant SSD content. This is an opportunity to work with a team of very talented engineers designing and developing embedded software for enterprise and super computer data storage in a strategically targeted position enabling the company to realize the goal of significantly decreasing customer workflow execution times.



    Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:


    • Responsible for leading product performance benchmarking.
    • Work independently to run detailed benchmarks at the block and file system level.
    • Identify performance issues and Perform in-depth analysis to identify what is causing those issues, then isolate the problems and work with the development teams to correct.
    • Identify performance hotspots and opportunities for optimization.
    • Work closely with Development Leads/Architects on designing/implementing code optimizations.
    • Provide technical consulting and mentoring to team members on optimization techniques, new algorithm design, implementation and conformance to architecture standards
    • Develop performance test automation, capture results and put into easily readable format to show differences in performance between various configurations.
    • Work closely with the development and QA teams on potential performance regressions to quickly identify and resolve problem areas.





    Qualifications for this role are:



    • BSc in Computer Science/Engineering or Math.
    • 10+ years of Software Engineering Experience – high performance storage preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of C/C++, Python/Perl.
    • Development background in software development using C/C++.
    • Ability to analyze, correlate large test results sets in order to highlight differences in performance between various configurations tested and projecting performance for possible customer requested configurations.
    • Hands-on experience installing and configuring Linux.
    • Knowledge of RAID Storage systems, HDD and Flash performance, including queuing models and their impact on performance.
    • Experience in storage performance testing and parallel file systems.
    • Experience writing code at all levels of the stack including, kernel and device drivers.
    • Experience running benchmarks and analyzing performance in an HPC environment, including Lustre and GPFS.
    • Troubleshooting of performance through exploratory testing, code path isolation and debugging of components such as the Linux block/SCSI driver.
    • Excellent organizational, verbal and written and communication skills including a willingness to present to customers and executive staff.
    • Strong technical leadership skills.
    • Ability to work independently as well as be a good team player.
