    Position:  Professional Services Engineer

    Reports to: Technical Services and Support Director, Asia Pacific.

    DDN is continuing its strong growth in Australia and is replacing an existing role vacated recently. We are currently seeking an engineer to provide professional services to customers mostly in Australia and some in Asia Pacific.  Professional services include hardware and software installation, implementation and tuning.  Support is responding to customers with technical support matters and assisting DDN’s global support team when an on-site presence is needed.   



    Job Description



    Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

      • Post-sales activity supporting High Performance Computing & Life Science (HPC & LS) customers in Australia and Asia Pacific.
      • Develop a substantial knowledge of the company's product line particularly SFAOS, GRIDScaler (Spectrum Scale), EXAScaler (Lustre) and IME. DDN will provide file system training when necessary.
      • Install, support and debug (as required) DDN’s Storage systems
      • Install, support and debug custom system scripts for installation, management and monitoring
      • Develop technical design documentation of customer installations
      • Deliver technical knowledge transfer to customers based on technical design documentation
      • Be part of a Technical Support Team that responds to Next Business Day on-site support requests in Australia
      • Write installation as-built reports
      • Weekly status report of activities to manager and participate in weekly calls.
      • Ability to manage customer relationship and post-sale issues
      • This role will require significant travel- up to 75%.

    Technical experience and knowledge requirements for this role are:

    • Mandatory
      • Bachelor level tertiary qualification
      • At least 5 years’ experience installing Storage systems, ideally with skills with:
        • Fibre Channel
        • Infinniband
        • NAS systems (NFS and SMB)
        • Ethernet
        • Linux
      • Experience gained inside the Scientific Research industry or with HPC systems
      • Compile and install Open Source code
      • Basic network diagnostic skills
      • Strong knowledge of file system design considerations for small file, large file and mixed file I/O workloads
      • Good communication, technical writing, VISIO (or equivalent) and documentation skills to create installation reports, as-built reports and root cause analysis reports
      • Australian Passport
    • Desirable
      • Parallel File System experience
      • An understanding of Scientific data acquisition
      • Linux Kernel debugging
      • Previous training experience

    Other requirements include

    • Able to work from home office. A broadband internet connection is essential along with a quiet working location.
    • Ability to do extensive domestic and  international travel
    • Live close to a major airport
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
    • Able to take directions and then see a project or task through to completion.
