Job Description

DataDirect Networks, Inc. (DDN) is seeking a Director, SW Engineering for our Storage Fusion Architecture (SFA) products. 

 

This position is located at our facility in either Colorado Springs Colorado or Columbia Maryland and reports to the Executive Vice President of DDN Global Engineering.

 

We are looking for a Director level candidate who will successfully manage the implementation of ground breaking software storage solutions for tomorrow’s enterprise and cloud environments. This unique individual will have strong expertise and experience in bringing to market leading software products in enterprise, cloud, or virtualization computing environments.

 

As the SFA Engineering SW Director, you will direct a multi-site team.  Candidates must have a proven track record of shipping enterprise quality storage products.  The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of planning and execution of releases and roadmaps, ensuring field issues are resolved in a timely fashion and ongoing management of the team.  Candidates must have a strong understanding of the agile development methodology and associated tools and be able to direct multiple scrum teams focused on multiple deliverables simultaneously.   This is a hands-on position so in depth knowledge of storage and high-performance filesystems is required.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with executives, product management and marketing on release requirements and roadmaps for the SFA product
  • Collaborate with leaders of other engineering and cross functional groups
  • Lead a multi-site agile team in execution of DDN roadmaps
  • Represent the SFA SW Development team in program management meetings
  • Collaborate with quality assurance representatives on test strategy, test execution and sustainability
  • Set internal sustainability goals and manage team to meet these goals
  • Coordinate the scoping and execution of new product features, Plan project budgets and manage to approved budgets
  • Hands on technical leadership for the definition, design and implementation of world class software suites and future enterprise cloud services
  • Work with key Architects in the architecture of new SFA features
  • Recruit and retain engineering personnel
  • Mentor front line managers
  • Interface with customers on new features and issues

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering or related discipline) or comparable experience is required; master’s degree in relevant field or MBA a plus.
  • 5+ years of management of software development teams.
  • 5+ years of project management experience.
  • Experience working with and managing geographically distributed development teams.
  • Extensive history of software development in Enterprise storage technologies, and their application.
  • Recognition as a leader with ability to build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams to leverage the latest technology innovations into enterprise quality customer solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience with all phases of the development life cycle.
  • Experience with agile development processes and scrum teams.
  • Experience with cross-site development.
