Job Description

 

We are currently seeking a Benchmark Engineer - GTS Team.

 

Job Summary: 

 

The DDN Global Technology Services (GTS) team is looking for a benchmark engineer for Colorado Springs facility. The successful candidate will work as part of a small worldwide team, and in collaboration with DDN customers, pre-sales engineers, sales and partners, worldwide on I/O related benchmark tasks or projects and performance issues encountered in the field.

 

Responsibilities include:    

  • Profile existing solutions to provide performance characterization for the purposes of marketing and for informing engineering and product management
  • Investigate new IO technologies or non-traditional benchmarks in order to assist Product Management and Engineering in defining future product requirements
  • Engage with customer benchmarks in the pre-sales and tender processes. This might require discussion/interaction with end customers and partners to clarify benchmark conditions and caveats.
  • Provide recommendations to the field based on customer requirements to optimize DDN storage solutions. 
  • Create and perform tests based on customer requirements.
  • Analyze results and design changes to optimize cost and performance. 
  • Be a part of the team supporting the field when performance issued are encountered with customers.
  • Create software and scripts to improve DDN's performance analysis
  • Help create reports for sales teams, field services and engineering to aid in the continued build-up of performance knowledge.
  • Investigate and optimize the performance of GPFS, Lustre, XFS and other file systems as well as application acceleration technologies such as DDN’s IME product  
  • Utilize DDN benchmarking to administer and oversee cluster operational environments.
  • Setup storage hardware, servers, switches, cabling, replace drives and, in general, assist in maintaining the operational efficiency of the Colorado Springs benchmark lab

Qualifications for this role are:    

  • Requires a Bachelor degree (or foreign equivalent) in Physics, Computer Engineering or a related field and 1 year of experience in the job offered or with Linux/Linux Kernel/Linux files systems.
  • Experience with performance tuning, HPC applications and experience with programming/scripting languages such as Bash, Fortran, C, C++, Perl, Python or similar.
  • Experience with parallel I/O, OpenMPI, MPI, NoSQL databases, parallel file systems, networks (EDR/OPA/Ethernet) and I/O intensive applications is highly preferred
